5 Things I Loved About This Week
March 18–24
Since getting engaged, married, moving, changing jobs, bringing home our first puppy, and now trying to start a family with my new husband, I have more to be grateful for than I could ever put into words.
For lack of a better word, this year’s been a ride.
But amid all that excitement, I had a health scare, cut contact with my family of origin, and found myself uninspired at the job I was supposed to love.
So that’s why I’m starting this series — A weekly rundown of everything I did, learned, and discovered to make my days great, to become a better version of myself, and to show up where it matters most.
1. I Learned That Self-Care Doesn’t Just Happen
I have to make space for it.
I’d spent too many months saying yes to everything, only to be surprised by the consequences of putting myself last after the fact. Rather than allowing my burnout to fester, I made a 20-minute appointment with myself right after work on Tuesday to take a bath — no phone in hand.
Much to my surprise, taking the time to rest was the single most productive thing I could’ve done. It made me more attentive to my husband when he got home, allowed me to push harder at the gym, and shifted my…
