7 Things I’ll Always Cheap Out on
#5, Premium Gas
I wrote earlier about the 7 things I’ll always pay a bit more upfront for. Those were the few items I’ve found that in this stage of my life end up costing me more by taking the cheapest option on day one.
But my intention is never to encourage overspending or to tell others to spend in ways that don’t meaningfully improve their quality of life. So here are 7 things that I’ve always gotten away with cutting corners on and why.
#1. Work Blouses
Back when I worked in an office five days a week, I couldn’t go more than a few days without spilling coffee down my front or getting pen ink on my collar somehow. I simply couldn’t justify the replacement cost of pricey workwear. And now that I work remotely, I can make my outfits look much more presentable on important calls with much less effort.
So instead of buying these bad boys at full price, I pick up what I can secondhand or stock up when H&M and Zara have their big sales. I don’t need them to fit a specific color palette and am not even going for a perfect fit on these, so I try not to spend more than $10 per piece. This way I have the variety I need without blowing out my budget.
