I got my first credit card a few years ago to build my credit for the future. I’m glad I did it and will probably be able to more fully appreciate that decision when I’m looking for a mortgage, but the cash back is nice for now. It’s also a great way to travel for free, but I think the value of the perks depend heavily on the cards you have in rotation and individual consumption preferences.
