I am so sorry you lived through what you did.
I didn’t realize that I was abused until I was 21, and I’d been living away from home since I was 15.
What’s perhaps the most upsetting is accepting that abusers will never get it, and sibling relationships are often so shaped by the abuse that cutting off an abuser means grieving the loss of an entire family system.
Thank you for writing about this and sharing your story openly. It was being able to name what I went through, learning that I wasn’t alone, and finding God again that has allowed me to heal and see another side of life that I never thought would be possible.
