I Just Passed the SHRM-CP Exam
Here’s how.
I recently sat for the SHRM-CP exam with two goals in mind.
First, I’ve been doing HR on the side for a while and have grown to absolutely love it! Getting certified seemed like the logical next step to making Human Resources my full-time career.
Second, taking the exam afforded me an opportunity to formalize the domain knowledge that I’ve gained on the job.
But between my initial decision to take the exam and passing it, I had a lot of learning to do about the test, how to prepare, and how much time I needed to devote to this pursuit.

Step 1. Get To Know the Test
This may sound simultaneously like a no-brainer and a waste of time, but I promise that taking the time to learn the test will pay dividends for two reasons. First, it’ll allow you to focus your preparation on the areas most likely to show up on the exam. Second, you’ll be better equipped to apply what’s covered in the prep books to the actual questions.
