I’ve Worked Out Nonstop for 10 Years

Here’s what I’ve learned along the way.

I’m by no means a gym rat or a health guru with all the answers. But I have managed to exercise 5–6 days a week nonstop for the past decade.

My goal here is not to brag. Rather, my hope is to share the tricks and systems I’ve come to rely on that make this habit second nature.

Boredom Is Normal. Fight It with Variety.

I used to assume that my boredom signaled a lack of willpower. I spent years beating myself up over it until I saw it for what it is — an opportunity to try something new and maybe even get better results.

Now, instead of waiting for boredom to set in, I do 2 things.

  1. Alternate cardio and resistance training each day, without fail. Doing so gives my muscles a break and capitalizes on the fact that I don’t hit the gym every day with the same amount of pep and drive as the last.
  2. Overhaul my routine every 90 days. This one’s easier than it sounds. Instead of relying on my own creativity to come up with a fresh batch of new and exciting workouts, I lean on a variety of free and paid sources across YouTube, TikTok, and the Sweat app for women to plan my splits.
