The 5 Biggest Money Mistakes I Made While Planning My Wedding
Don’t be like me and make the most of your big day.
I’ve been married for just shy of a year now, and it’s been nothing short of a dream. That said, no amount of money could get me to go back in time to the weeks leading up to our wedding.
We kept our wedding small. Just 12 people including us.
But that didn’t spare me the pre-wedding jitters or the inevitable drama of planning a wedding on a three-month timeline.
In hindsight, I could’ve made my life a whole lot easier by avoiding 5 critical pitfalls. Not only did these cost us thousands of dollars, but they sucked a lot of fun out of the whole ordeal.
My objective in sharing all this is not to vent. Rather, my hope is that this bit of unsolicited advice helps at least one couple stick to their guns and make their wedding what they want.
Mistake #1. Being Swayed by Tradition
The second I told my mom about the engagement; she had no shortage of opinions on what constituted “tradition.”
Almost immediately, my idea of wearing an outfit I already owned for a quick ceremony at our local church was at odds with her vision.
